Spotlight On SQL Server

Asked 1/23/2013 3:11:16 AM by Ajay

Hi,

Recently we've installed Quest Spotlight Tool on a Server to monitor all of our Servers. But as RDP limits only 2 connections, multiple Users at a time not able to connect to that Host Server (through RDP) to access Spotlight (to observe its activity and everyting).

Please help, if we've any alternative method to access (at a time multi Users) spotlight on that Host Server.

Hello Ajay,

There is a Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise Client tool that can be installed on each users workstation.  This way you will not have to RDP into the same machine in order to use the product.  Spotlight includes unlimited user licenses, meaning as many people as needed can have the client installed on their desktop.

When you install Spotlight using the standard installer (downloadable from support.quest.com for existing customers), it will ask you whether you want to install the Client or Diagnostic Server.  In this case, since you already have a Diagnostic Server installed, you should only select the Client.  When you launch Spotlight for the first time, it will ask you for the servername that has yor Diagnostic Server installed on it.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.
