how can we find the last record in a table without using orderby

You could add an IDENTITY column (e.g. ID) to your table which gives you a column with an autoincrementing value. Do SELECT MAX(ID) FROM TABLENAME will return you the ID last row inserted. You may want to index the ID column. |

What defines the row as being the "last record"? A MAX datetime? A MAX PK column of type int? What is the business requirement? |
